Catherine M. Powell Catherine M. Powell nee {McGann} of Westville died on January 16, 2015 at Pitman Manor with her family by her side at the age of 84. Cass was born in Camden N.J. on December 16, 1930 to Edward and Catherine McGann nee (Gallagher). Catherine met her late husband Chauncey M. Powell on a double date with her sister and wound up falling for Chauncey who was actually her sisters date that evening. She went home and confided to her mother that she had met the man she was going to marry. He called her the following day and they were an item since that encounter. Catherine and Chauncey married in July 1949 and went on to raise 4 daughters and a son . She enjoyed hosting big family functions particularly summer barbeques with lots of people. Her motto was the more the merrier. Her back door was always open to everyone. Catherine loved spending time with her Grandchildren, reading and shopping sprees. She formerly worked at Kids R Us and Dunken Donuts. Survived by her son Chauncey {Angela} of Westville; 4 daughters Diane {Jack} Ricciuti of Williamstown; Darlene Powell of Westville; Denise {Frank} Sims of National Park; Dawn Culbertson of Hilltop; 7 grandchildren ; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Ellis-Stiefel Funeral Home 301 Highland Ave., Westville, NJ where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Entombment at New St. Mary's Mausoleum, Bellmawr, NJ. The family request donations be made in Catherine's memory to the Westville Library 1035 Broadway, Westville, NJ 08093.
