Eleanore Elizabeth Monsu

March 31, 1932 - September 23, 2024

Eleanore Elizabeth (Makohuz) Monsu, 92, of Westville, NJ, passed away peacefully in her home on September 23, 2024 .

Eleanore was born in Trenton, NJ on March 31, 1932 to John and Mary Makohuz.

A graduate of Trenton High School, Eleanore worked for the Fedders Air Conditioner Company before meeting the love of her life, Vincent Monsu, and marrying in May of 1955.  Together Ellie and Vince enjoyed 56 years of adventure together ranging from owning and operating a delicatessen in Camden, NJ, to being founding members of the Tradewinds Camping Club of South Jersey. Eleanore was a devoted and loving mother. She was an active member of Saint Anne's RC Church in Westville, attending daily Mass and volunteering her time at Bingo. Eleanore was passionate about technology and was an early adopter of anything new – especially if it was a kitchen gadget.  She was always the first to have the latest appliance in her kitchen.  As she aged, she shifted her focus from kitchen gadgets to card playing and puzzle solving.  She loved playing pinochle, and she could often be found engrossed in a puzzle book or with a jigsaw puzzle spread out on a card table.

Eleanore was predeceased by her husband, Vincent; parents, John and Mary Makohuz, her sister Margaret, and her brother Edward.  She is survived by her two children, Kathleen (Paul) Ellenberg and James (Mary) Monsu; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Danielle) Monsu,Andrew (Catherine) Ellenberg, Christian (Kaitlyn) Monsu, and Karlyn (Brent) Redrow; four great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Kimberly Monsu.

Visitation will be held at St. Joachim's Parish – Annunciation Church, 601 W Browning Road, Bellmawr, NJ 08031 on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 AM, followed immediately by a Catholic Mass at St. Joachim's and internment at New St. Mary's Cemetery, 515 W Browning Road, Bellmawr, NJ.
