George N.
Carroll
Jul 23, 1945 — Apr 29, 2020
National Park
George Carroll of National Park passed away at the age 74 on April 29, 2020, after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. George is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathleen (Mehaffey). Loved ones that cleared the path for George include his parents, Charles and Mary Carroll and brothers Charles Jr. and Robert.
Loved ones that will miss George dearly are his wife Kathleen, numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.
George was born July 23, 1945 in Woodbury New Jersey and was a life-long resident of National Park. He married the love of his life Kathleen Mehaffey on June 2, 1982. For 24 years, George worked for Owens-Corning Fiberglass in Barrington, New Jersey as a machine operator until the plant closed in 1986. In March of 1988 through November 2019, George worked as a truck mechanic with Deptford Truck Rental, where he formed long-lasting friendships.
George was a self-taught man of many interests and many talents. George loved fast cars and motorcycles. As a young man, George owned and drove drag cars (Riddler and Purple Passion) and had a love of classic cars. George could easily tear apart a car and rebuild it and in fact rebuilt two of his classic cars. George also enjoyed riding on his Harleys. George was a General class amateur radio operator and an avid animal lover and rescuer.
George was a good man with a quick wit who enjoyed the simple things in life....being at home, stopping in for quick visits at family get-togethers, sitting out back under his canopy with his pets by his side, walking around the block and at the Red Bank Battlefield to chat with neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle around town. George especially enjoyed the time spent with his wife Kathleen and the good times they had together.
George will be deeply missed by family and friends but mostly by his wife. Due to state regulations specific to the COVID-19 virus a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to any animal rescue or shelter organization (e.g., German Shepherd Rescue of New Jersey, Animal Welfare Association, Voorhees Animal Orphanage ,Gloucester or Camden County animal shelter) in George's name.
