Janice Alston

January 5, 1965 - December 30, 2022

Janice Alston was born on January 5, 1965, in Norwalk, Connecticut to Ann Shirley Alston and Lynwood Gay. She was educated in the Norwalk School System. Her greatest joy was her granddaughter Iyanna. She enjoyed being a grandmother, and Auntie as she affectionately was called "Auntie Flip". Anyone that knew Janice understood her nickname "Flip". Janice departed this life on December 30, 2022, after a long illness, at home in Camden, NJ surrounded by loved ones.

Janice leaves to cherish her memory her companion Efrain Santiago, Sr., and special friend Glen Earl Johnson, Sr.; three daughters India Toliver; Lashyra Bennett; Malerie Williams; one son Glen Earl Johnson, Jr.; one sister Valerie (James) Brookins; three nieces and two nephews; two great nieces and two great nephews; a very special cousin who referred to her as "Auntie Flip" Chyretta (Vitin) Castro; five Aunts, Moya (Vido) Hill of Waterbury, CT; Velma Robinson of West New Haven, CT; Terry (Willie) Harper and Mary Maxine Roberson of Rocky Mount, NC; Amitha Smith of Zebulon, NC; one Uncle Harry Cook of Vietnam, Asia; a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased in death by her mother and father, maternal grandmother Mattie Rogers Smith, a nephew Mark Crespo; a cousin raised as a brother Sandokan (Mooney) Harrell; three uncles, Alonzo Smith, Jr.; James Harrell; David Smith, and one aunt Faree Combs.
