John (Jack) W. Sankey Jr.

John (Jack) W Sankey JR age 82 died on March 2, 2019 in Deptford NJ where he has lived since 2004. Jack was born and raised in Pitman NJ and was a 1959 graduate of Gettysburg College. One of his most memorable times was when studying abroad in Italy in Rome and Florence. One of his great joys in life was playing the piano and organ and worked and sometimes volunteered as a Church Organist for many years. He lived in Ambler for 14 years. In 1986, he moved to Cambridge, MD, and lived there for 18 years. In 2004 he moved to the Lakebridge section of Deptford. He enjoyed boating for many years and was a Railroad/Train enthusiast, influenced by his Grandfather who worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad a century ago. Aside from everything else his greatest joy came as an avid animal lover and gave many dogs and cats a "second chance" and a good life as he preferred "rescued animals" as companions.

He is preceded by his partner of 45 years, Robert Charles Banes who died on May 29, 2010.
Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Wednesday March 10 between 1-2 pm with services starting at 2:00pm  at the Ellis-Stiefel Funeral Home 301 Highland Ave Westville, Nj 08093.
