Leonard Winfield Burt Jr.

October 18, 1941-February 2, 2022

Leonard Winfield Burt Jr. (Buddy) of Gibbstown, NJ formerly of Bridgeport, NJ passed away suddenly at Cooper Medical Center in Camden, NJ on February 2, 2022, at the age of 80. He was the son of the late Leonard Burt Sr. and Marion Burt (Duncan) and brother to the late Darlene Santucci and Jean Drake.

He was married for 46 years to Darlene McGeehan Burt the love of his life before she passed in 2009.

Buddy worked for Paz Brothers in Bridgeport, NJ as a crane operator and finished his career out with Godwin Pumps where he retired.  After retiring he spent most of his time with his partner in crime, Lisa.

Buddy enjoyed singing opera, fishing, and hunting, and enjoyed being with his family. Leonard was a sweetheart, and his big heart left an everlasting impression on everyone whose life he ever touched.

Whether it came to him singing "there's a mooooon out tonight," or him just making duck calls, he was always the life of whatever room he was in. We have so many jokes with him (kind of at his expense but he loved it.)

Leonard spent a lot of his time at the Bridgeport speedway and loved every minute of it. He helped build it in the 70's and up until he couldn't go anymore, he spent his weekends there with his racetrack family. He will forever be missed.

Leonard is survived by his two loving daughters Lisa Burt Liebold and Susan Burt Reilly and his 5 grandchildren Christi, Abel, Michael, Mason and Kevin and his great granddaughter Aria;  5 sisters Sandra Brickner, Joan Prince, Lenora Caltibiano, Cheryl Cordetti (Dave), Robyn Hurff and many nieces and nephews. There are so many more to name that meant so much to him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gibbstown VFW March12, 2022 at 2:00-6:00 PM
