Madeline D. Slack Madeline "Maggie" Slack If you're about to throw out that old oil lamp, Stop. Consider: You may need it for the next thunderstorm; it is that time of year after all. Madeline Slack, (you may have known her as "Maggie", Mom, Mom-mom, Grand mom, Great-Grand mom, Aunt Mag) entered into eternal life after 80 years on Saturday, May 24,2014. She is pre-deceased by her parents and siblings. Maggie's spirit carries on in her children: Jacklyn Solida of Woolwich Twp NJ, Chuck Groff of Repaupo NJ, Jamie Hogge of Gloucester Point VA, Ralph "Bud" Slack of North Carolina, and Hazel Slack of Cedarville NJ as well as her friend and companion, Pat Downer, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her cats "Lemon Pop" and "Tigger", numerous grand-dogs, grand-cats, and a host of relations and friends from all walks of life. We were blessed to have learned some life lessons from Maggie, like get the old oil lamp ready for thunderstorms and put Bounty paper towels (no other brand would do) on your head when heading out in those storms, how to make awesome macaroni salad, always salt the water when making mashed potatoes, if you wash the dishes you don't have to dry and put them away, keep cookies, candies, & treats around: for feeding dogs, cats and kids, for playing Bingo, but mostly for sneaking in between meals, much to Jackie and Pat's chagrin... Maggie enjoyed a simple life. She worked many jobs, a Jane-of-All-Trades; the last for many years with the Rode family in Woolwich Twp NJ, first working their famous barbeques along side of her sister, Lil, and later cooking breakfasts in "The Roost". Many a Saturday found her playing Bingo or rousing game of Uno in the screen house. She enjoyed her casino trips. She never met a dollar store, lottery ticket or scratcher that she didn't like, but mushrooms? Not so much The family will be gathering at Cedarvale Winery, 205 Repaupo Station Road Logan Twp, NJ, on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 5pm - 7pm. Nothing formal, just come as you are and share a memory of Maggie. Please, no flowers, but a donation to The American Heart Association would be just fine.
