Peter John Galantic
June 29, 1946 - March 20, 2023
Pete "Enjoy your Moment" Galantic passed away on March 20, 2023 of Westville, NJ at the age of 76. He is the beloved husband of Jacqueline (Barlow) for 47 years, loving father of Peter(Angela), Michelle Gurcik (Joe), Michael and Alicia (Brett). He is also survived by his dear grandchildren Kylie, Michaela, Alyssa and Ryan, and lets not forget his best friend Bentley.
Pete was born on June 29,1946 to his parents Michael Galantic and Josephine Bibinski of Gloucester City, NJ. After Pete graduated from Gloucester High School at the age of 16, he attended Arkansas State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with "Zeus"as his campus nickname. His journey took him into the Army National Guard and then as a Merchandise Manager at the JC Penny Company. In the summer of 1975, Pete met the love of his life Jacqueline at the Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor, NJ. A short six months later, Pete and Jackie were married and went on to begin creating the Galantic Legacy. Pete and Jackie took their first shot as entrepreneurs with a restaurant venture in Philadelphia, PA called 'Peteskis'. After losing $50,000 in 6 months, he didn't stop trying. He pushed forward into his next business adventure Lawn Doctor where he quickly found his niche in the lawn care industry, earning the nickname "The Gorilla" taking over weaker franchises. A few years later, a new solo-business plan called Lawn Medic spawned into a family business which is still up and running strong today. Later in life, with the continued drive and goal of starting another business, Brite Ideas Holiday Lighting, came to reality when Pete was a young 60 years old.
His home was his sanctuary. His escapes were the beach, bike rides, books, the movies and Fox News with his favorite ice cream. That "base" tan was essential even on an overcast day. If Pete didn't know you, he referred to you as skeeter. If you were lucky to be a part of his journey, he loved you and we're sure you had a nickname. We called him many things, but most importantly he was known as either "Big Pete, Ox, King, Dawg, Dadso" and most importantly "Pop-pop". Pete loved his family more than anything and his grandchildren and dogs were his world. He would never miss a game, a holiday or an opportunity to recognize you with a compliment. If you were honored to know Pete, he exuded positivity, warmth, laughter, the ideology of "being you", and of course "enjoying your moment" which we will strive to continue to do in his honor.
Friends and family are invited to meet Thursday, March 30 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City, NJ. Pete's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:15 AM. In lieu of flowers, his family has suggested memorial donations be made in Pete's honor to his favorite charity, St. Jude's Research Hospital.
