Obituary

Ronald E. Snock

September 28,1946 - March 18, 2023

Ron is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 52 years, Linda (nee Pinardo) and his children, Tara Sorenson and Derek Snock, as well as four beloved grandchildren, Kayla Zirlin Sorenson and Nicoletta, Arianna and Tanner Sorenson. Additionally, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Chew of Wenonah, Francis Davis of Avalon, and Gale Pinardo of Maple Shade. Ron is also survived by many special nieces and nephews and their families.

Ron was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964. He proudly served in the US Navy for four years and was assigned to the USS Albany, later Cuba and finally Pax River, Maryland. While stationed on the Albany in 1966, his ship was assigned to task Force 65 which participated in the recovery of the four Hydrogen Bombs lost off the coast of Spain. During his Navy enlistment he worked in Personnel and always prided himself that his papers were in order. (He left Linda ten copies of his DD214 forms just in case.)

Ron moved to New Jersey in 1970 when he and Linda married. They were introduced on a blind date set up by his best friend, and adopted brother, Joseph Sowers, who was dating Linda's friend, Louise Schissler at the time. Since marrying, the four have remained close friends over the years and have enjoyed traveling together upon retirement.

Ron had a diverse career in manufacturing and medical distribution. His positions ranged from Personnel Management to Operations Manager to Purchasing Director. After retirement, he drove a school bus for Dehart in West Deptford and was know fondly by many children as "Mr. Ron".

Ron spent most of his life in Wenonah, where he and Linda moved in 1976. He worked many years honing his woodworking skills restoring their Victorian home, which became, over time, a labor of love. In addition, Ron enjoyed gardening and built Linda the formal English garden she envisioned. It was a popular stop on the Wenonah Garden Tour many years ago. In addition to carpentry, Ron was an avid reader and had many hobbies including wine making, history, chess, puzzling, listening to music and working in stained glass. He taught adult stained glass classes at Gateway High School for several years. In his spare time, Ron worked on his Alien, Roswell themed, model railroad platform that fascinated his grandchildren and great niece and nephew, Maya and Miguel! Ron is probably best known in Wenonah as Witch Hazel's, (Linda's Halloween persona), special effects guru. He was responsible for creating and displaying all of the Halloween decorations, including the famous spinning wheel and the second floor zip line used during the pandemic. His creative talents and attention to detail made their home a favorite of many of Wenonah's Trick-or Treaters.

Ron had a wonderful sense of humor that kept Linda smiling for 52 years! He was a loving and kind husband that was always by her side and happily a co-creator of their many creative projects which he estimated was in the thousands after so many years of marriage. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those that loved and knew him.
