Sonja Stephanie Salgado

April 13, 1950 - February 25, 2021

Sonja Stephanie Salgado, 70, of West Deptford passed away February 25, 2021.  Sonja was a life long resident of West Deptford and a part of the graduating class of 1969.

Sonja was a devoted wife to Dionisio Salgado, Sr. for 52 Years.  She was also a loving mother to her 3 children, Dionisio Salgado, Jr., Tanya Schaen (Kyle), Dara Salgado-Simon (Frank); cherished grandmother to Francesco, Marcello, Lorenzo and Sofia; sister to Gunther Galloway and Marie DeWees.

Predeceased by her grandmother, Sarah Williams; father, Andrew Galloway; mother, Ethel Galloway; son, Dionisio Salgado, Jr.

Sonja was an active and devoted Jehovah's Witness of the Mantua Congregation.  Sonja worked for Strawbridge and Clothier in the receiving department.  After some time, she made her way to the customer service department where she was known to be the most sought out gift wrapper.  Eventually she retired well after the company became Macy's.

Sonja loved her family beyond words.  You could always depend on her for support and love.  She was the kind of person who thought it was better to give than to receive.  Sonja was a devoted and cherished grandmother who was known to her grandchildren as Oma.  She was always active in their lives and gave them unconditional love.  They were her world.

She was also an avid animal lover.  She always had pets throughout her life.

Her family will miss her beyond words could ever express.  She will always be a part of their lives in so many ways.

Sonja was laid to rest according to her wishes on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Eglington Cemetery.
