Thomas Edward
Tomchak
Dec 30, 1952 — Feb 7, 2018
Thomas Edward Tomchak
Thomas Edward Tomchak passed on February 7, 2018 at the age of 65. Tom was born on December 30, 1952 to the late Edward and Sophie Tomchak (nee) Mika in Darby Pa. He attended Msgr. Bonner High school, graduating with honors. Tom was offered a full scholarship at St. Joseph's University and graduated in 1974 with a BS in Math and Physics. He began work at GE in Valley Forge PA which later became Lockheed Martin, where he worked as a Systems Engineer until retiring in 2010. He lived in Tredyffrin Township from 1988 until 2009.
Tom was an avid photographer, collector, and audiophile. He had a substantial amount of audio equipment as well as many camera equipment collections. Tom loved fast cars and air shows. He also collected many books on the military.
Tom loved to travel. One day he decided he wanted to visit all 50 states. He started out by car, and took amazing pictures and slides all across the lower 48. He then took a cruise to Alaska and photographed that as well. After that he went to Hawaii and recorded that too!
Tom was a kind and quiet man. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was an affable companion. He enjoyed spending time with his brother and his family.
After his first stroke and subsequent rehabilitation he lived at Lindsey House in Pennsville for 3 years, where he developed many lasting friendships among the residents and staff as well. In 2012 he moved to Pitman Manor, where he resided until his death.
Sometime in 2010 the Director at Lindsey House felt it would be good for Tom to have a kitten, this is where Magic came in. A cute little kitten that needed a home. She was the light of his life. She brought such a smile to his face. She made the move to Pitman Manor to live with Tom, where they forged many new relationships. Magic was the sweetheart of the Fifth Floor, and Tom was thriving.
Thomas is survived by his brother, Robert J Tomchak (Betty), Nephew Robert J Tomchak, Jr., Niece Stephanie C. Tomchak, and many cousins; Dorothy DeMorat (Gerald), Doreen (Bill) Lauko, Kim (Jeff) Pilarchik, Bud (Christine) Demorat, David (Minnie) DeMorat.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday February 24, 2018, 12:00 Noon at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 17 Earlington Ave., Mullica Hill, NJ where friends may call after 11:30 AM.
